Until the early 1900s, a source of family entertainment was the Sideshow. In 1884, Joseph Carey Merrick, also known as the Elephant Man, became one of the most well-known sideshow attractions in American History.
This mask, sculpted by Scott Stoddard, was modeled using images of Merrick's skeleton to create a detailed recreation of what he looked like in the 1880s.
